Visual Arts

Curated by Christine Evans from the creative partnership battyandgorgeous (www.battyandgorgeous.com). Welcome to the Visual Arts Programme 2009, and what a great feast we have for you. With this much visual variety you will certainly be savouring delights all week. Many of this year’s artists are new to the Festival, bringing fresh sights and styles for you to appreciate, along with some familiar contributors.

This year we are inspired by the pushing of traditional boundaries, and you can enjoy some new and exciting avenues of photography, sculpture and drawing.

PREVIEWS

Our main Preview Night is on Friday 15th May between 6 and 9pm, when Wilbraham Road and Beech Road will be a hive of activity. There are also some previews on Monday 18th May to give you plenty of time to take in the sights.
See programme entries for participating venues and their preview times.

HANDS ON

This year, as ever, there is the chance for you to get creative and join in the fun. During the week you can create your own Plastic Fantastic Bottle Flowers, or get funky with felt. Plus, at Creative Recycling on Beech Road you can paint and plant a flower pot, add to the Pallet Patchwork and see a collage demonstration by resident artists. If you want even more activity then you can do some creative drawing with the Drawing on the Senses workshop at Chorlton Library or make environmental sculptures and paintings at Chorlton Nursery. Do come and join in!
