Proof and Tea Hive

From: Thursday 19 May, 2016  To: Sunday 29 May, 2016

PREVIEW: Thursday 19 May, 18.00 – 20.00 (Tea Hive) and 19.00 – 22.00 (Proof)

This year, outside Proof, a large-scale abstract image will be created by local collage artist, Garth Simmons whose past work has taken the form of installations, animations, pattern designs and now, street art. Garth creates his collages using self-generated materials, various printing methods and permutation techniques which allow for a distinct, personal and eccentric aesthetic.

The image he is creating for the festival promises to be vibrant, eye-catching and bewildering. It bears the working title Temporary Exterior Development due to the construction being of paper which is designed to degrade and change over time. Garth plans to adapt the work on a month by month basis allowing it to evolve and change organically.

Garth is also exhibiting work in Tea Hive during the festival displaying a range of artwork which he has produced over the last 6 years. Some of which were utilized in his pattern designs which appeared in Fashion Times and at the Golden Globes, 2015. There will be some new unseen images produced exclusively for the festival.
