Telling the story of the Great War (1914-18) from Declaration to Armistice in a selection of original poetry set to music. From major events such as The Somme and Passchendaele – to the pacifists and the war poets – capturing the human stories from the trenches and the home front.
Ian Whiteley is a Performance Poet based in Wigan. All the pieces included in this performance were originally written as poems – and were later set to musical backings. He also uses Wilfred Owen’s poetry and contemporary music to further illustrate the hopelessness of war from the perspective of hindsightin category performance
