Welcome to the Visual Arts Programme 2008. Familiar faces and first-time exhibitors offer a visual smorgasbord for you to savour. Many artists have produced work especially for this year’s Festival, demonstrating that south Manchester is indeed at the cutting edge of North West creativity. There is evidence that the camera continues to reign supreme as a creative tool. ‘Beauty and Truth’ said Cartier-Bresson, and both are here for you to ponder. Our Festival painters also push the boundaries of the medium, from watercolour to aerosol.
We are pleased to showcase work by those striving to take their place in the art world through education and community support. We are also inspired by the quantity, quality and diversity of work presented by those using reclaimed materials.
