The Power Of Words

by Amy

A forest of paper
Sits on the shelves
Its leaves made from wood
Tells stories of elves.

And fantasy worlds
Where fantasy reigns
And fantasy people
Play fantasy games.

And in from the North
Come armies of fact
Their swords black and white
No knowledge of tact.

Then come the others
Real, so they say
A tiny gold needle
In a city of hay.

They say they’ve progressed,
Evolved and improved
Without help from words
They couldn’t have moved.
